Enrichment provides learners with the opportunities to try new and varied activities that may not strictly fit into the National Curriculum, but that develop character, resilience, motivation, and encourage them to pursue wider goals.

Enrichment helps to teach life skills that benefit learners far beyond the classroom and can develop an appreciation for cultural and community issues, teamwork and social responsibility. At Heritage, our aim is to provide more for all of our learners.

Our aim with enrichment at Heritage High School is to:

  • Provide opportunities to pursue outstanding personal development in line with our core values.
  •   Help students gain exposure to new subjects and disciplines.
  •   Allows Heritage High School and our students to identify talents and key areas of   interest.
  •   Help to reduce anxiety and support positive mental health and wellbeing.
  •   Increases student’s social and soft skills.
  •   Allows our students to gain real-world and applied experiences.
  •   Enhances our student’s confidence in personal abilities.
  •   Helps build great relationships between teachers and students.
  •   Focus our work on enriching the quality of education in relation to curriculum.
  •   Deepen the body of knowledge and skills needed for outstanding academic outcomes.

Now more than ever, developing a thriving enrichment programme is an essential part of promoting employability, academic attainment and teaching young people the skills they need to make good choices. These skills have benefits well beyond the classroom.
