PE

The Physical Education curriculum for both KS3 and KS4 students is engaging and challenging and allows students to develop physically, socially, cognitively, healthily, and personally. The intent of our Physical Education curriculum is to provide students with quality first teaching in physical activity/ games, not only as a participant, but as a coach or official. Students will be provided with a variety of opportunities to develop a life-long love for Physical and/or sport through engaging in a curriculum that is broad, balanced, and challenging.

Our extra-curricular programme is open to all students to attend on a competitive or social basis, which leads to students representing Heritage High School in a variety of sports through the district school sports partnership, cup fixtures, Sisters in Sport competitions, or local friendlies. Additionally, students will be given the opportunity to engage and develop as confident leaders through the ‘Leadership Pathway Program’, which runs from year 7 to year 11, which includes the opportunity to complete 3 certified courses, the Young Leaders Award, Sports Leaders Level 1 Award and the Sports Leaders Level 2 Award.

The KS3 curriculum is designed to develop the social, physical, personal, cognitive, and healthy well-being of our students through engaging in a range of activities, which build on core skills and knowledge from KS2 Physical Education.

In KS4 students will continue to develop their knowledge, skills, and ability through competitive game situations, as well as being given the opportunity to take GCSE PE, Sport Studies or BTEC Dance and/or continue their Physical Education through the KS4 core curriculum.

The Physical Education intent statement is to provide students with equal access to first quality teaching of an engaging and challenging curriculum and a wide range of competitive or social extra-curricular opportunities.
