Travel and Tourism

The Travel and Tourism BTEC Tech Award, is run by a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and experienced member of staff. The course is both exciting and challenging. The course is an introduction to vocational learning. The qualification gives learners the opportunity to build skills that show an aptitude for further learning, both in the sector and more widely beyond. The course offers knowledge and skills that can be directly transferred to many of the different and exciting jobs and roles within the sector, vital given that travel and tourism is currently the third largest employer in the UK. One of the aims of the course is to offer students the opportunity to take advantage of real-life practical experience that can then be directly transferred to the world of work within the sector. To support students with this, a number of visits and invited guest speakers feature throughout the second year, further helping students to link the theory of classroom-based activities, to a real-life setting.

Students are assessed in two ways. Firstly, by completing two assignments each year and secondly by sitting an external exam in the final year of the course. Students are often working to a deadline. It is vital that high work standards are maintained throughout.
