Travel and Tourism

The BTEC Tech Award in Travel and Tourism (KS4), offers both stimulating content and academic challenge to all students with a keen and genuine interest in the subject.

The Travel and Tourism sector is not only one of the most dynamic and exciting of industries, but it also employs nearly three million people in the UK and plays a major part in contributing to the UK’s economy.

The BTEC course provides students with a wide range of knowledge and information about the aims of different organisations, investigates how businesses work together, explores the issues that can impact tourism, studies current trends, highlights influences on global tourism and considers how the needs and preferences of customers are identified and met.

Assessment for the course comes in the form of both internally monitored assignments, (Year 10 and Year 11) and an external exam, (Year 11 only).

Within the Travel and Tourism industry there are a host of different and varied job roles. The course offers students the opportunity to hone many transferable skills useful in the workplace. They include: the ability to research, investigate, make decisions, work to a budget, and evaluate situations. All are key and feature throughout the course.
